The renowned Károlyi–Csekonics Palace was originally designed in a Neo-Rococo or Neo-Baroque style, featuring rich facade ornamentation and representative interiors. These were damaged during World War II and subsequently underwent multi-phase heritage restoration; today, the renovated building serves cultural and institutional functions.

Our team was commissioned to survey the building in 2015. This was our first project where the survey was assisted by point cloud technology. Another interesting aspect of the task was that the client, Lechner, drafted the interior and exterior facades based on the point cloud, while we were responsible for the rest of the building. For our team, this project was an important learning milestone in applying point cloud technology, establishing teamwork protocols, and processing heritage geometric elements within BIM.
